GBSF Assaut League 2006 - Event 4Cambridge, Sunday 10th December The temperature outside was a little cool, but in the ring things were warming up, as all the 2006 titles would be confirmed by the end of the day. The London team performed as follows.
Dom faced two excellent fighters, losing one match by just a point and the other to the University World Champion. He was crowned Vice-Champion of his division by the end of the day. Leo faced the same tough opponent, fought well and with composure in his first competitive Savate fight, not taking the win but gaining a good experience. Sophie fought very strongly against two opponents, losing once but beating the highly skilled French fighter in her afternoon match; she also picked up a Vice-Champion title in the medal ceremony later. James fought twice, winning both matches to keep a perfect score of 40 points across the year, taking the division title.
The final League standings can be seen in this table. Congratulations to all fighters who competed in 2006, with special mention to our friends from Lille who provided excellent opposition and an international scope to the tournaments. Many thanks to the GBSF and the event organisers, especially the Cambridge Academy who hosted three of the four events this year. We look forward to seeing you all again in 2007. |

"French Boxing is a deep science that requires a lot of composure, calculation, agility and strength. It is the nicest way to develop human strength, a fight with no other weapons than natural weapons where you cannot be taken by surprise." |
